2012? Are we living in the last days? Dead birds and fish: Millions of dead fish found in U.S., Brazil and New Zealand

About 100 tons of dead fish have washed ashore in Brazil and New Zealand, adding to the two million fish that washed ashore in Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay, officials announced Wednesday.

The discovery of the kills comes on the heels of three mass bird deaths in Arkansas, Louisiana and Sweden.

About 100,000 drum fish also washed up on the Arkansas River this week, prompting experts to probe even harder to determine if each incident is linked.

The Maryland Department of Environment representatives said that test results have not yet revealed what killed the 2 million spot fish in the bay.

However, it is believed that cold water stress is to blame.

According to Dawn Stoltzfus, a department spokesperson, mass winter fish deaths do occur and have been recorded in 1976 and 1980, respectively.

In Brazil, a fish kill has reached 100 tons since last week as masses of sardines, catfish, croakers and carp have washed up on several shores.

Hundreds of dead snappers, most with missing eyes, have also been found near Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand.

Officials there say fish likely died from starvation and cold water conditions.

While each incident is being investigated individually, skeptics of early explanations are emerging rapidly. Now lining up beside conspiracy theorists and Bible prophecy fanatics, experts aren’t buying that the recent animal kills are wrapped in significant mystery.

Speaking to the Associated Press, College of William & Mary biology professor Dan Cristol said that in order for the birds in Arkansas to have been spooked by fireworks, some of the displays would have to have been ignited directly into a large flock to blow them out of the sky.

Conspiracy theorist and anti-government poster child Alex Jones, on one of his Web sites, claimed this week that the kills are linked to secret government tests aimed to cull the population of animals and, eventually, people.

Many Christians turned to the Bible for answers. According to millions of believers, the bird and fish deaths are in line with End Time prophecy, written in scripture.

Christians believe that during mankind’s last days before the return of Jesus Christ, millions of birds and fish will die while destruction, war, disease and natural disasters engulf the planet.
